General
Why do I need a Google account to add subtitles?
This web application uses a framework called Google App Engine, which makes web development very easy. One of the advantages of this framework is that it handles all user management using Google accounts. Using Google account imposes no risk, as this site has no access to any Google related information you have (such as GMail).
I want to add subtitles, but the language I want to use is not listed. What do I do?
Just contact us, and we'll be happy to add the language.
Uploading to YouTube
I created subtitles to one of my videos. How do I upload them to YouTube?
Please follow these steps:
  • View your video within this site.
  • On the left hand side, click on "Click here to download the subtitles."
  • Now click on the "Download" button. You will be downloading the subtitles in a YouTube compatible format to your computer. Remember where you downloaded the file from.
  • You'll now need to upload the subtitle file to YouTube. The easiest way is to follow the link within the box titled "Is this your video?"
I created subtitles to a video I don't own. How can I notify the owner so that he may upload the subtitles to YouTube?
You'll need to send the owner a message through YouTube. Follow these steps.
  • Go to YouTube, login, and go to your Inbox (choose the Inbox option from the drop down menu that appears when you hover over your user name at the top of the page). You can use this shortcut to get to your Inbox.
  • Click on the "Compose" button on the left hand side to send the owner of the video a message.
  • You should probably include a link to the video player of the specific video, and also a link to this FAQ, so the owner knows how to upload the subtitles to YouTube.
